Transforming Bridal Teams with Kerry Curl
Ever wondered how to make it as the leader of a thriving Bridal Beauty Team? We've got the inside scoop from none other than Kerry Curl. Here's what Kerry had to share about her journey and her top tips for managing a successful bridal beauty team:
Q: What inspired you to start your bridal team, and what were some key milestones?
A: I started my bridal hair and makeup business when I was 30 years old, quite late when you think about it.
I was still on maternity leave from my corporate job before I decided to take a leap of faith and go freelance, with a newborn keeping me up most nights.
👉🏼Spoiler alert: I didn't start my bridal hair and makeup business with zero business knowledge, this taught me the fundamentals of starting a profitable business.
So, my business had been growing for a while and it was always a case of when not if I would start to hire people.
After a few short years, leads were coming in daily, weekly from some of the TOP local luxury wedding venues, quickly I realised just how important those enquiries were - money being left on the table.
I hired my first decent business coach who helped me forecast for industry growth which was spot on, so I jumped head first into it.
My bridal team grew quickly and together we began to successfully dominate the marketplace.
Q: What do you believe are the essential elements of successful team management in the bridal HMUA industry?
A: It's all about relationships. Communication, trust, and managing expectations from the bedrock. Empowering team members and fostering a supportive culture are non-negotiables. Your team is your biggest asset, after all.
Q: What are some common challenges you've observed in managing bridal HMUA teams and how does the new feature, you collaborated with Creative Freedom on, overcome them?
A: Hiring the right talent and ensuring clear ROI are perennial challenges. Enter Creative Freedom's Teams feature. Seamlessly integrated and done-for-you, it revolutionises team management. From recruitment to operations, it's a game-changer.
Q: What advice would you give to someone who is just starting to build or manage a bridal HMUA team?
A: Don't copy; innovate. Focus on building deep relationships and networking. Your team is a reflection of your brand, so choose wisely. Remember, birds of a feather flock together.
Q: What motivated you to transition from managing a team to becoming a business coach for bridal HMUAs?
A: I wanted to be known as a mentor, not just a boss. Bridging practical skills with business coaching created a unique offering. Empowering others and navigating the 2020 pandemic fueled this transition.
Q: What inspired you to develop your renowned ‘6 Steps to 6 figures' course, what key strategies participants can expect to learn and any other information you’d like to share?
A: '6 Steps' was born out of a need to capitalise on excess leads and empower aspiring artists. It's a roadmap to success, focusing on leveraging your brand and building a stellar team. With the right mentorship and strategy, the sky's the limit.
